Why newels loosen
Most posts are fastened to a tread nose or a thin skirt with nothing structural behind them. Once the joint moves, the whole rail feels loose. We open the connection and anchor into framing or the stringer.
Replacement options
Solid box posts, turned posts and half-newels against a wall, in poplar for paint or oak, maple and walnut for stain.
Rail integration
Handrails are re-cut, fitted with rail bolts and plugged so the joint disappears. No exposed brackets unless the design calls for them.
